Things haven’t always been straightforward in Poppy’s life but her dreams are finally within her reach.
She's moving into a cottage in beautiful Nightingale Square, close to the local community garden, where she can indulge her passion for making preserves and pickles. She may not have the best relationship with her family but she is surrounded by loving friends, and feels sure that even her grumpy new neighbour, Jacob, has more to him than his steely exterior belies.
But the unexpected arrival of Poppy's troubled younger brother soon threatens her new-found happiness and as the garden team works together to win community space of the year, Poppy must decide where her priorities lie and what she is prepared to fight for …
You can’t fail with a Heidi Swain book
Wow ,what can I say this has to be one of my favourite books .I was hooked from the first page and we get to revisit some characters from Nightingale Square and meet some new ones . Poppy her little brother Ryan and her reclusive and grumpy neighbour Jacob .
We also return to the community garden and the community spirit I also love that Heidi’s books are also local for me so that I can identify with the places mentioned. This is a totally captivating story that will make you want to never put it down ,I loved it !!! Amazon Customer
Another lovely read from Heidi Swain
Sometimes we just need to escape from the realities of life, things seem so miserable and the news is always depressing, that's why we need lovely books. The weather was gloomy and more talk of Brexit (among other things) had me feeling glum and this heartwarming tale was just the tonic I needed!
It is full of charm and positivity, provided by family, friends and the little community that Poppy is welcomed into. Aimee
A feel-good page-turner, great story of community and friendship.
This is the first Heidi Swain book I have read, but it certainly will not be my last. A great story, full of community spirit, great characters, which made me want to read on. I loved Poppy and Jacob, both such strong characters, and the rest of the characters complimented them greatly. A real page-turner, I will definitely be looking for more of her books. lisastewart3511
Utterly bookalicious
Heidi Swain is one of my favourite authors. I always know that when I pick one of her books, I am in for a treat! And what a treat is Poppy’s Recipe for Life. It ticks of everything I am looking for in a book. Lovable and engaging characters, charming setting( I always want to move in Heidi’s fictional places) and plot line that is a page turner.
One warning, make sure you clear your schedule for the day before you dive into Poppy’s Recipe for Life. Sparkly Word
Another 5 star plus story from the wonderful Heidi Swain.
Such strong, believable and lovable characters you can relate to. Family relationships are the forefront of this story, and family can be defined as a group of people with whom you mostly get on with, Heidi explores what happens when not all families grow up nurtured and respected. Poppy has a half brother and a mother that clearly is not of the maternal kind. We are back in Nightingale Square and of course once you move into this community things can only get better! Throw in a grumpy good looking neighbour, work colleagues who don’t tell each other how they really feel, a community garden and what have you got? Another bestseller that’s what. AT
A brilliant read
I need to read more of Heidi’s books they are fantastic. I couldn’t put this little cracker of a read down. Some lovely characters and a dishy neighbour, what more can you ask for? I loved reading about Poppy’s new life moving to Nightingale Square, you can see how good a community that she has come into. Hannah Symonds
Oh she's a good egg this one, isn't she!
Oh she's a good egg this one, isn't she? Heidi Swain has delivered yet again. Never mind Poppy creating recipe cards, I think this author needs to create her own recipe cards so we all know how she does it! Kaisha Holloway - The Writing Garnet
Utterly Charming
Poppy's Recipe For Life is completely fantastic and utterly charming to boot. I was smitten from the very first page. This is the 2nd visit to Nightingale Square and I haven't read the previous book Sunshine and Sweet Peas in Nightingale Square - which I will do - but this book stands on It's own so I don't feel I've missed out by not reading Sunshine..... first. I love all the characters and I hope to see more of them in the future. Kindle customer
A perfect summer read
Back to Nightingale Square and another novel that’s beautifully written and perfect for a summer’s day. The characters feel like old friends at times, testament to Heidi’s lovely writing style. Kat
Super Enjoyable!
I am now a huge fan of Heidi Swain! I was so excited to read this book and it turned out to be such a warm and lovely read. It had everything I want from a good romance novel. A great setting, a fabulous supporting cast of characters and a loveable main character was a winning formula for me.
I've had one of Heidi Swain's Christmas novels on my e-reader for a while (Sleigh Rides and Silver Bells at the Christmas Fair.) I Will be recommending Poppy's Recipe for Life to all my friends for their holiday reads this summer! Bee
Filled with Heidi Swain's trademark warmth, humour and huge dollop of charm...
Whether it be summer or Christmas, heading back to Wynbridge, Wynthorpe Hall or Nightingale Square, it is always a delight to be opening a new book from Heidi Swain; as you read those first few pages there’s just this gust of warmth that radiates straight out of it, instantly making you smile, as you realise you’re back with friends and about to make even more.
