The Holiday Escape

The Holiday Escape. The first standalone novel from Heidi Swain

The Holiday Escape

Ally and her dad, Geoff, run the family business, a creative retreat, from their home Hollyhock Cottage in picturesque Kittiwake Cove. They give their guests their dream break, but Ally hankers after glamourous city living, fancy restaurants and art galleries.

Ally’s survival strategy is to escape out of season, take a break abroad and pretend to be the person she always imagined she would be. She meets Logan while she’s away and he turns out to be exactly the kind of distraction she’s looking for.

With her spirits restored, Ally returns home, picks up the reins again and sets her sights on another successful season, but when Logan unexpectedly arrives on the scene, she soon realises she’s in for a summer that’s going to be far from straightforward…

Perfect Summer Escapism!
I love it when we are treated to a standalone book from Heidi Swain. It's lovely getting to meet characters for the first time and exploring new locations.
Kittiwake Cove is home to Ally, her Dad Geoff, her best friend Flora, and a fun group of other residents. But Ally longs to be far away from Hollyhock Cottage. This had me instantly gripped as I felt the pull to the Cottage myself.
As always with Heidi Swain's writing, we are treated to laughter, tears, flowing dialogue, and wonderful descriptions of both the scenery and the food (which truly made my mouth water!). I could picture it all so clearly in my head, and I wished I was there. I wouldn't mind sharing a picnic with Logan, if I'm being honest.
There's drama, humour, cheekiness, and some sizzle, just what I like in a summery book! A definite must-read from one of my absolute favourite authors. Trish H

Does not disappoint!
If you are a fan of Heidi this new addition will not disappoint! If you haven't already read any of Heidi's work then what are you waiting for!
This is one of my new favourites. I loved the characters and themes in the book and didn't want it to end. K. Earnshaw
So uplifting
This was a fabulous standalone read set in a beautiful costal location in Dorset. Told from the point of view of Ally who lives with her dad and helps him run his business but dreams of living abroad and living a bigger life, this is a real warm and heartfelt read. There’s some lovely characters in this, especially her long time friend Flora and the area itself sounds lovely. It’s a brilliant reflection on what you really want in life, family loyalties and being true to yourself. I had worked out a lot of the story well in advance but that had no impact on my enjoyment at all, it’s just a lovely uplifting read with so much positivity in it.

Another fantastic read from Heidi Swain

I’m a huge fan of Heidi’s books and this one is every bit as good as the rest. It’s a standalone title set in Dorset in a beautiful cove, and you get a real sense of place. The main characters are really well crafted and the story had me involved from the start. I have read it super quickly as I really wanted to see how the story unfolded. I recommend it for readers who enjoy the books of Heidi, Jo Thomas and Jill Mansell. Jennifer Lawrence

Can’t recommend it enough
Oh my an absolutely fabulous stand alone ace read. I loved it. Heidi Swain had done it again in spades. The beginning is brilliant and it just improves. Set mainly in Dorset with a little Barcelona thrown in. Some fab characters. Flora, Tara, Logan. You had hot love, helping family out, A fab parrot . A great craft cottage. Just read it. Also a lovely beach. Can’t recommend it enough. Rosamond C

Another fantastic book.
Another fantastic book from Heidi Swain. This stand alone novel whisks you away to Hollyhock Cottage in Kittiwake Cove in Dorset and Heidi doesn't disappoint you. I felt like I was there with the characters. I loved Kasuku the parrot and everyone needs a friend like Flora. I wasn't keen on Tara to start with but glad that all worked out.

Absolutely delightful
I absolutely loved this standalone story from the lovely Heidi Swain. We follow Ally who lives with her father and an amusing bird. We then get introduced to some other characters including her best friend Flora who I adored! This was such a delight to read and I read it in two days. A real page turner of a book and I know everyone would love to be immersed into this world with Heidi’s characters. Diane

Fabulous
Such a lovely book set in beautiful Dorset. Ally and her dad Geoff live in Hollyhock Cottage , they run a creative retreat, best friend Flora lives with them. It’s an idyllic setting and the creative retreat sounds amazing and a dream job but it’s not Ally’s dream job. Logan added a touch of romance to this book which had drama, fun, families and friendships throughout the story, read it in one sitting as I was so caught up in the story. Everyone needs a Flora in their life. Grace Power
